Like every other ambitious A-level student, I had a long list of foreign and local universities that I wanted to apply to and every time I drove I past the
building on the highway, my sense of pride would tell me that you’re better than this. I was afraid that if I don’t work hard enough I might end up here. But I never thought in my wildest dream that a horrific tragedy would force me to apply MUET. Unwilling to leave my mother during her cancer treatment and afraid of losing more academic years, I applied to MUET. But now I thank God that I applied here because it turned out to be a blessing in disguise!
has definitely exceeded my expectations. Impressive Infrastructure, good transportation system, beautiful Library and gymnasium, proper hostel, peaceful environment and very cheap tuition fees (25000/year!!) make it an ideal university. The quality of education is also very good. The faculty is highly experienced and qualified in their fields. Some of them even have double PhDs from top universities of the world. Although every teacher is qualified in their field that does not necessarily mean they teach well. There are few teachers who do not speak fluent english and have difficulty conveying knowledge to students. Complaining this can lead you in trouble as teacher unions are strong and they resist any move that may cause harm to their colleagues.
Overall MUET provides an excellent opportunity to learn and appreciate the talent our country has. One cannot deny that the university is trying hard to improve its education standards. Contrary to popular misconception, there is no culture of cheating or corruption in classes or in exams. Rules are very strict for attendance and political wings that were once cause of much violence and disruption no longer exist.
The only place where it lags behind Pakistan’s “Ivy league” are extra-curricular activities and need of more practicals. It amazes and encourages me to see extremely poor students that even don’t have proper clothes to wear are working hard and sitting next to me to improve their and this country’s future.
